Summer Sunday School begins on June 18.
This summer children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade will enjoy a gastronomic tour of the bible. Each Sunday will focus on a different story from the Bible that features food as a main ingredient: Adam, Eve and the Apple, Esau’s Birthright Stew, Queen Esther’s Feast, The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes and many others. Younger children and toddlers will be cared for in the nursery.
Summer Sunday School is being planned and led by our Summer Children’s Ministry Interns Maya Aga, Clara Becker and Sophia Jung with our Artist In Residence, Jordan Nesbit providing weekly art projects that further explore these stories.
Water All Around the World, a curriculum from Living Waters for the World, will be the basis for our Vacation Bible School this year. We’re excited about the possibilities for linking CPC’s mission work with Living Waters with our children’s VBS experience. Each day will include a presentation on a different country where Living Waters for the World is active. These presentations will be combined with daily Bible, crafts and other activities also linked to water.
We hope that you’ll share the news about VBS with your families, friends and neighbors. All children ages 3 through entering 5th graders are welcome as participants. Youth grades six and above are encouraged to sign up as volunteers. There will be signups on the patio after church both for participants and volunteers during the month of June and registration forms are also available in the church office.
We welcome all children to join us each Sunday for Godly Play Sunday School, September – June
Worship begins at 10:00 a.m. All children begin in worship with their parents.
Following the “Time with the Children”:
Children age Kindergarten – 5th grade will come to Godly Play together through June 11.
Godly Play uses storytelling and the invitation each week for the children to respond creatively through art, music and movement to the stories they hear to help children develop a sense of the beauty, mystery and wonder that is part of learning the stories of God’s movement in the lives of the people of God. In the fall our focus is primarily on foundational stories found in the Old Testament. We have an excellent and experienced team of youth and adult teachers returning this year to work collaboratively to teach the Godly Play lessons each Sunday. This year, some of our youth who heard the stories as children, will be teaching the stories to the children!
We hope that your children will join us, and participate in our learning community.
Sunday Morning Nursery
Infants and pre-school age children are welcome in our nursery each Sunday. We have a nursery staff and volunteers from the congregation who consistently provide excellent care for the youngest members of our church family. Nursery care is available during the 10:00 worship hour.
Artist in Residence
Our Artists in Residence are local artists from our community (musicians, visual artists, dancers, actors, photographers, etc.) who work with our children and youth on Sunday mornings as well as during our youth groups.
