Firm Believers I and II
Firm Believers I is Monday and Thursday nights from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.
Firm Believers II is Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45 – 9:00 a.m.
I would like to invite anyone who has not tried our exercise class, or who used to attend but stopped, to join us in Fellowship Hall.
So, what is the difference between the classes? The evening class is a little more strenuous, with a longer cardio-vascular workout, and more intense weight workouts. In the morning class we still warm-up, but do a lot of the exercises and stretches while sitting in a chair, but don’t be fooled into thinking you won’t get a workout while sitting.
Both classes begin with a warm-up to get our bodies ready to work and stretch. The evening class then proceeds to a cardio section, then on to large muscle (legs, arms, back, shoulders) usually with the aid of 2-5 pound weights. We then go down onto our mats on the floor to work our core, which are the abdominal and lower back muscles. Ending the program we do stretches and last but definitely not least (in fact many stay throughout the class just to do this part) a guided imagery and meditation. I incorporate some Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, and low impact aerobics to make sure we get a good workout.
The morning class begins with the warm-up, making sure all major joints; necks, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles are moving. We then work on balance by standing on one foot, by walking toe-heel, or just moving from side to side transferring our weight from right to left foot. Next we go to the chairs with our 1-3 pound hand weights and we work the legs, arms, shoulders, and even do some abdominal exercises. We stretch on the chair, and then move down to the floor, on our mats to continue working legs, abdominal, and core muscles. We end in more stretching, then the guided imagery and meditation.
We have a lot of laughs, and that in itself is an exercise in good health. Come join us. Bring your hand weights, exercise mat, towel and water to drink, and be ready to have fun
