Pilgrim Place

With a mission to foster a vibrant and inclusive senior community committed to justice, peace, and care of the earth, Pilgrim Place is a continuing care retirement community for those who have dedicated their lives to service and justice.

Home to about 350 residents, Pilgrim Place provides a full range of senior care (independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing) that is available to support residents as their needs evolve. Residents want to put their time and work in service to that community (especially in ways that demonstrate their shared values). As such, Pilgrim Place is redefining retirement through its residents’ collective social consciousness and ripple effect—volunteering and serving hundreds of non-profit organizations in Claremont and beyond. As one resident shared, “Our commitment to the community was significant to us prior to coming to Pilgrim Place, and continues to be significant after we became residents.”

Gifts to the Resident Health and Support Program (RHSP) ensure that all residents continue their lives at Pilgrim Place with dignity and care. While residents plan and use their means wisely, they may simply outlive their assets or suffer a catastrophic health event that exhausts their resources. Since RHSP’s inception in 1935, residents have demonstrated extraordinary care for one another by actively helping to raise these funds. For example, proceeds from community-wide events such as the annual Festival support this fund while also promoting conscious consumption and sustainable living through the reuse of items.
