Jazz Vespers

  • Claremont Presbyterian Church 1111 North Mountain Avenue Claremont, CA, 91711 United States (map)

Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Lent: the late winter triple play that begins with a spirited celebration to resist the gloom of winter, then turns us toward deep reflection on our lives and on all that needs to fall away to be ready for the new life of spring, Easter, and Resurrection. Come join us as we make that journey through music, poetry and prayer at out February Jazz Vespers service.

Also, arrive early to see CPC’s recently installed permanent outdoor labyrinth that is open to the public. A labyrinth is not a maze but instead a winding pathway to enhance mindfulness, meditation and prayer. Join us from 4 to 6 PM, just prior to Jazz Vespers, for a workshop to learn more about the ancient symbols and to walk the labyrinth. Refreshments will be served. The music is offered by The Ron Kobayashi Trio and vocalist Debbi Ebert, a group of exceptional musicians from the Los Angeles area. They come through the California Jazz Arts Society (CalJAS), under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation law for public and charitable purposes 501©(3), and help to preserve and promote jazz and other American art forms through concerts, workshops and presentations.
